Who knows Ralph's secret?
Does any one know the story of who named Ralph, and why that name was chosen? I do, but I won't spill the beans yet. :o)

Don't know who named him.I vaguely recall someone
mentioning that he was throwing up when first
brought up to the site, possibly in the van? DW
The story behind the story... I think.
Wally Swigert was talking to a couple of Japanese technicians one day at the Yokosuka site and they asked him what the puppy's name was. Wally, being of a somewhat devious nature, :o) thought that it would be funny to come up with a name with an "L" in it... hence "Ralph".
I used to the think that the Japanese had a difficult time saying words with "L's" in them. I remember trying to "teach" my Japanese barber how to say holiday! I've since learned that they do have "L's" in their language, they just pronounce them differently. For example: "la" is pronounced as well as written "ra" in Japanese. They use the hiragana symbol for "ra" which is らあ or the kata kana version ラア。
